SYMPOSIUM ON "DEVELOPMENT NEEDS OF MEDICAL EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS AT UMP HCMC – CURRENT SITUATION AND SOLUTIONS TOWARDS INNOVATION AND INTEGRATION"

On January 14, 2025, the Center for Medical Education – University of Medicine and Pharmacy at Ho Chi Minh City (UMP HCMC) successfully organized a symposium titled: "Educational Resources Development Needs at UMP HCMC – Current Situation and Solutions Towards Innovation and Integration."
The symposium aimed to strengthen collaboration between the Educational Resources Unit and academic departments across the university to develop educational resources aligned with modern educational trends. The event attracted the attention of university leadership and a large number of faculty members.
The symposium was chaired by Prof. Tran Diep Tuan (Chairperson of the Board of Trustees) and Assoc. Prof. MD. PhD Vuong Thi Ngoc Lan (Vice President of the University).
Prof. Tran Diep Tuan delivered the opening remarks, emphasizing the critical role of educational resources in enhancing teaching quality. He underscored that innovation and development of such resources must be grounded in the practical needs of departments and units, and called for close collaboration across the university to promote innovation and global integration.

Presentation highlights included:
MSc. Le Hoa, Head of the Educational Resources Unit, presented findings from a university-wide survey on resource development needs across departments. The report highlighted the current gaps, particularly the discrepancy between actual needs and the level of collaboration in the development and production of educational materials.

MSc. Nguyen Huu Hoang, Lecturer at the Center for Medical Education, presented a SWOT analysis, outlining the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and challenges in the development of educational resources at the university.

Assoc. Prof. MD. PhD Le Khac Bao, Head of the Center for Medical Education, proposed practical solutions to overcome current challenges and optimize existing resources for educational resource development. He concluded that resource development is not the responsibility of a single individual or unit, but a shared mission across the university. It is a vital factor enabling UMP HCMC to transform into a modern medical training institution aligned with international trends in medical education, thereby contributing to the advancement of Vietnam's healthcare system.

The discussion session, moderated by Assoc. Prof. MD. PhD Vuong Thi Ngoc Lan, received active engagement from participants. Many valuable insights, experiences, and initiatives were shared, along with collective discussions to propose solutions for enhancing the quality of educational resources university-wide.

The symposium concluded successfully, not only identifying key issues that require prioritization but also reinforcing the spirit of collaboration among faculties and centers within the university. This event marked a significant step forward in UMP HCMC's educational resources development roadmap, aiming toward innovation and integration in medical education.
