OPENING CEREMONY OF THE TRAINING PROGRAM ON CLINICAL TEACHING METHODS FOR PRACTICAL INSTRUCTORS IN HEALTH SCIENCES EDUCATION AT CHO RAY HOSPITAL

Within the framework of academic–clinical partnership between the University of Medicine and Pharmacy at Ho Chi Minh City (UMP) and Cho Ray Hospital, and under the guidance of MD. PhD. Specialist Level II Nguyen Tri Thuc (Deputy Minister and Acting Director of Cho Ray Hospital) and the UMP Board of Presidents, the Center for Medical Education and the Center for Health Professionals Training (UMP) have jointly launched the "Training Program on Clinical Teaching Methods for Practical Instructors in Health Sciences Education at Cho Ray Hospital."
At 1:30 PM on May 6, 2025, the Center for Medical Education – UMP, in collaboration with the Center for Training and Direction of Healthcare Activities – Cho Ray Hospital, solemnly held the Opening Ceremony for the training course titled "Clinical Teaching Methods for Practical Instructors in Health Sciences Education."

The ceremony was honored by the presence of:

Over 200 clinical teaching staff from Cho Ray Hospital
In his opening remarks, MD. PhD Nguyen Duc Khanh conveyed warm greetings and shared messages from Assoc. Prof. MD. PhD Ngo Quoc Dat (Rector of UMP), emphasizing the close and strategic partnership between UMP and Cho Ray Hospital. MD. Khanh also presented an overview of the training program's objectives and content, highlighting the crucial role of equipping clinical instructors—including physicians, pharmacists, nurses, and technicians—with effective teaching and assessment methods. This is the third training program organized by the Center for Medical Education to strengthen teaching and clinical assessment capacity among Cho Ray Hospital's staff.
At the ceremony, MSc. Nguyen Trung Son (Deputy Director of the Center for Training and Direction of Healthcare Activities), reiterated the directives of the Acting Director and expressed his expectations for hospital staff to actively engage in the course with a high sense of responsibility. He emphasized the importance of enhancing clinical teaching competencies to better meet the growing demands of a modern healthcare system.

The Clinical Teaching Methods course is a specialized training program designed to enhance clinical teaching capacity and instructional quality at the hospital level. The course combines solid theoretical foundations with practical teaching strategies to support instructors in developing skills in organizing, facilitating, and assessing learners effectively. This initiative represents a critical step in the ongoing reform of medical education, aligning with competency-based training and contributing to the improvement of health workforce quality.

The course is scheduled from May 6 to June 12, 2025, and includes both theoretical and practical components. Through strong collaboration and a spirit of enduring partnership between UMP and Cho Ray Hospital, this training not only aims to improve teaching quality at the clinical site but also serves as a strategic effort to standardize clinical teaching competencies—paving the way toward a modern, effective, and sustainable medical education system.
