OPENING CEREMONY FOR THE BASIC MEDICAL EDUCATION AND CLINICAL TEACHING METHODS TRAINING PROGRAM FOR PRACTICAL INSTRUCTORS IN HEALTH PROFESSIONS EDUCATION AT UNIVERSITY MEDICAL CENTER, HCMC

On November 11, 2025, the Center for Medical Education – University of Medicine and Pharmacy at Ho Chi Minh City (UMP), in collaboration with the University Medical Center-HCMC, held the Opening Ceremony of the Training Program on Basic Medical Education and Clinical Teaching Methods for Practical Instructors in Health Professions Education.

The program is specifically designed for physicians, nurses, and healthcare professionals who are directly involved in clinical teaching and supervision of students in hospital settings. The course focuses on modern principles, methods, and pedagogical skills in medical education, aiming to enhance participants’ teaching competence, assessment skills, and ability to organize and facilitate clinical learning effectively.

In his opening remarks, Assoc. Prof. Le Khac Bao, MD, PhD – Director of the Center for Medical Education (UMP), and Deputy Director of the University Medical Center-HCMC – emphasized the importance of innovating teaching methods in health professions education, especially in the context of increasing competency-based requirements and real-world adaptability. He affirmed that faculty development in medical education plays a pivotal role in improving the quality of clinical teaching and in building a professional and effective teaching workforce.

The program will run from November 2025 to February 2026, combining theoretical modules with interactive small-group sessions that promote active learning and peer engagement. Through these activities, participants will have opportunities to refine their instructional techniques, practice clinical teaching skills, and stay updated with current trends in medical education.

With a learner-centered and competency-based orientation, this training represents an important step toward developing a high-quality pool of clinical educators for the University Medical Center-HCMC, contributing to the hospital’s vision of becoming a model teaching hospital. The Center for Medical Education affirms its commitment to supporting healthcare institutions in strengthening their teaching capacity and advancing the quality of medical education and patient care in Vietnam.
