The University of Medicine and Pharmacy at Ho Chi Minh City (UMP) demonstrates its proactive, comprehensive, and enduring commitment to the advancement of Health Professions Education in Vietnam through its extensive participation in the 9th National Conference on Medical Education, to be held at Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy from November 7–8, 2025, under the theme “Medical Education in the Digital Era: Opportunities and Challenges.” This prestigious scientific forum brings together leading experts, policymakers, and educators in the field of medical education to discuss strategies for innovation and quality enhancement in the training of healthcare professionals.

Dynamic Engagement in the Pre-Conference Sessions (November 7, 2025)
Right from the pre-conference day, UMP will actively contribute to six Continuing Medical Education (CME) sessions, making a significant impact on updating and strengthening the competencies of health professions educators nationwide. These CME sessions focus on critical areas of modern medical education such as:
· Faculty competency framework development,
· Assessment in medical education,
· Active learning through Team-Based Learning (TBL),
· Application of technology and artificial intelligence in teaching and learning.
Through these contributions, UMP showcases its academic expertise, leadership, and collaborative spirit in advancing medical education.
Prominent Contributions at the Main Conference (November 8, 2025)
During the main conference day, Prof. Tran Diep Tuan, MD, PhD – Chairman of the Board of Trustees, will serve as moderator for a key panel discussion on “Technology Applications in Developing the National Medical Licensing Examination (NMLE).” This session addresses one of the most crucial topics in the ongoing digital transformation of medical assessment systems, enhancing transparency, standardization, and reliability in Vietnam’s forthcoming National Licensing Examination for Medical Practice.
The academic prestige of UMP is further reinforced by the participation of many of its leaders and faculty members as Session Chairs and Judges for the Young Investigator Presentations, ensuring the scientific rigor, fairness and professional quality of the event. Members from UMP serving in these roles include: Assoc. Prof. Vuong Thi Ngoc Lan, MD, PhD – Vice President, Assoc. Prof. Le Khac Bao, MD, PhD – Director of the Center for Medical Education, Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Anh Tuan, MD, PhD – Director of the Center for Health Professionals Training, along with several other distinguished faculty members of UMP.
Impressive Scientific Contributions
UMP proudly stands among the institutions with the highest number of scientific presentations at the conference, with 42 oral presentations and 40 poster presentations. This remarkable achievement reflects the vibrant, diverse, and high-quality research culture among UMP’s faculty and students. The studies cover a wide spectrum of topics, including innovations in teaching and assessment, competency-based education, simulation-based training, artificial intelligence applications, and faculty development, demonstrating both academic depth and responsiveness to global trends in medical education.
